Seven Stages: Providing Treatment in a Mental Health Crisis (1.5 CE)

Presenter: Lauren Reed, LCSW, LSSW, MPA (She/Her)

Course Description: Middle School is a difficult developmental period for many adolescents. Many will encounter mental health needs that could lead them to cope by self-harming, experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts, or having a psychotic episode. Knowing how to provide treatment during a crisis can decrease the potential of the event becoming traumatic and increase the effectiveness of the intervention. In this session, participants will learn how to use Albert R. Robert’s 7-Stage Crisis Intervention Model to intervene through assessment, provide the most effective and least restrictive disposition, and reintegrate the student back into school. Rules of confidentiality, duty to warn, and state laws will be taken into consideration.

CEs: This course is equal to 1.5 CEs
